Barbary Lane

Fun, bright, original accessories

Barbary Lane  opened in Kemptown Village with a blaze of multicolour in May 2016, bringing to Brighton a taste of spiritual cousin San Francisco (Barbary Lane is featured in Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City). Specialising in unusual and colourful accessories from pink Harris Tweed handbags and fabulous umbrellas to elegant silk handkerchiefs, hats, fascinators, kimonos and feather boas. Many of the items are handmade, limited edition or bespoke. There are also wider party possibilities here with party decorations and a 11-litre cocktail fountain for hire. Owner Lynne Gillett also runs craft and accessory-making workshops: check their vibrant website for details. And if you’re ever in need of that little something to wear to the Kemptown Carnival, look no further…
