Silver Sounds

Samba band for the over 50s

The catchy and hypnotic samba rhythms of the over 50s who make up Silver Sounds are a regular feature at local festivals, the Brighton Marathon, conferences and other community events.  And if you have any doubt about how fun this can be, you can see them in action and rehearsing on their colourful website.

You don’t need any musical experience to join — and instruments are all provided and the band welcomes newcomers who might want to try out a taster session. Rehearsals which take place weekly in the Crypt Community Centre under St George’s Church, are overseen by Mestre Paul Dodd, an accomplished drummer who has spend the last two decades studying Brazilian drumming style and carnival music.
