With its curving window display of interesting new, classic or local titles, the Kemptown Bookshop looks like what you would imagine the picture-perfect bookseller should have looked like, in those days before Amazon. Inside it’s larger than you might guess: with three floors of books, as well as stationery and gifts and games. The staff are knowledgable, helpful and very happy for customers to browse. The bookshop is also the main UK distributor for the Bookroom Art Press which prints and publishes a range of 20th century British art, including local icon Eric Ravilious as well the charming work of Cyril Power and Edward Bawden. You can view these prints upstairs at the bookshop or at the Bookroom Art Press’ own website. The bookshop noticeboard is also a good place to find or post local small ads.
