Jazz Appreciation
Want to know more about jazz?Intrigued by jazz? This is a series of fortnightly sessions run by the University of the Third Age (U3A), which is a learning co-operative of people no longer in full time employment and has a (modest) membership fee. More details of the U3A and membership can be found here.
The Jazz Appreciation group meets fortnightly at the atmospheric Verdict Jazz Club. By listening and watching jazz via recordings, DVD presentations and You Tube downloads, the group looks at jazz styles and musicians from across the world. In Spring 2017 they hope to look at the work of renowned recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder, iconic pianist McCoy Tyner, the jazz clubs of New York City – as well as Brighton-based double bassist and composer Terry Pack.
