Spacious corner branch

The calm wide windows and comfy armchairs of this branch in a former bookshop seem a far cry from the protests which surrounded the opening of this branch back in 2008 — and propelled the St James St coffee culture into the national newspapers. Protesters claimed the coffee global chain which had taken over the St James bookshop, had showing a disregard for local planning laws. But the argument settled down — and Starbucks has been providing a cosy coffee refuelling point between seaside and town ever since.
