Where would the ‘village’ part of Kemptown be without the Co-op? Stocking an impressive amount of food, drink, household products and newspapers in what is quite a small space, the Co-op manages to be efficient and friendly from early morning until late at night. It’s also a mainstay for snacks for the kids up the road at Brighton College. There is a very good selection of fresh daily baked breads and rolls, (look out for the fresh cheddar and Jalepeno bread) and fresh fruit and veg. Crucially, you can also buy disposable barbecues here — if you’re heading down to the beach. There’s also a cash machine in the back of the shop. If you are a regular, it’s definitely worth getting a Co-op card.
